The red Pirelli tyres symbolises the supersoft compound during the 2018 F1 season. They are designed to allow maximum grip when out on track, whilst also allowing the race car to accelerate quickly. The tyre is made from a flexible rubber that is able to conform to the shape of the track well. The tyres can be used in slippery conditions (prior to Intermediate tyre use) and are typically used when the cars are looking to go for a faster stint during the race. Due to their soft nature, however, they are likely to wear faster than harder tyres.
