LOT 018 – Michael Schumacher 1998 Signed Ferrari F300 047 Engine

Story

A rare chance to acquire a true piece of Ferrari F1® history: this authentic Ferrari F300 047 engine, signed by seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher. With direct provenance from Ferrari’s pivotal 1998 season, this engine is a showcase of technical mastery and sporting legacy and now exists as a remarkable display piece.

The Ferrari F300 – A Turning Point for Ferrari

The Ferrari F300 marked a new era for the Scuderia. Designed under the leadership of Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne and engine chief Paolo Martinelli, the car was powered by the 3.0-litre Tipo 047 V10 engine. Capable of producing around 800 horsepower at over 17,000 rpm, it carried Schumacher to six Grand Prix victories in 1998, keeping Ferrari in a fierce title battle with Mika Häkkinen’s McLaren.

This particular engine, bearing model number 047 with head casting part number 047-170329, represents the engineering foundation of Ferrari’s future dominance, setting the stage for Schumacher’s five consecutive titles from 2000 to 2004.

A Display Model with Provenance

This engine has been configured specifically for display, having been carefully lightened by the removal of its internal components. It does not include the rotating assembly (crankshaft, pistons, or connecting rods), nor camshafts or valves a benefit for collectors, as it makes the engine significantly lighter and easier to manoeuvre.

The piece retains both exhaust manifolds and half of the intake manifold, with further refinements added, including the correct right-side exhaust manifold and half of the intake plenum rare and difficult parts to source. Supplied with a striking chrome stand, the engine is ready for immediate display as a centrepiece.

Signed by Michael Schumacher

Adding to its rarity, the engine is signed by Michael Schumacher himself. The autograph aligns with a shortened version of his traditional signature, enhancing both the authenticity and uniqueness of the piece. This transforms an already exceptional engineering artefact into a prized collectible directly tied to one of the greatest drivers in F history.

Auction Buyers Guide

Our team's primary aims are to source the most unique items for our auctions and to make participating in our online events enjoyable and easy for our buyers. We endeavour to do this whilst offering a personalised service to all.

Step 1: Register to Bid

To register as a bidder, create an account on our account. You'll be asked to provide your credit card details, and a temporary charge will be placed on the account for the duration of the auction to minimise fraudulent accounts from interfering with the bidding process.

Step 2: Place Your Bid

Items at auction may be sold with or without a reserve price, and will be clearly identified as such during the auction.

For a sale to be successful a bid must equal or exceed the reserve. In the event that you are the highest final bidder, but the total bid remains under the reserve price the item will not sell.

Items that are sold without a reserve will be clearly identified as such during the auctions. In their case the highest final bid will always win the item.

Items that do not meet reserve or do not receive any bids will not sell. Upon the closure of the auction these will be removed and managed independently by our specialists. Interested parties are invited to engage with our private sales team to make an offer.

Step 3: Make Payment

We pride ourselves in offering our customers a variety of payment options to satisfy their preferences. Upon conclusion of the auction the F1® Authentics sales platform will automatically issue a payment link to the winning bidder.

Payment is due in full by the end of the first business day following a sale. Proof of payment will be required and requested by our specialists.

Auction hammer price is exclusive of buyer's premium and sales tax, and exclusive of import duties and VAT.

All invoices and payments will be in Great British Pounds (GBP).

Step 4: Lot Shipment

Memento Exclusives operates with several reputable logistics experts. Our partners have experience coordinating the worldwide shipment of valuable and delicate vehicles and collectibles and will ensure products are treated with the utmost care.

Upon conclusion of a sale our specialist will contact the winning bidder to discuss delivery options. Air and sea freight quotes can be produced for items.
