Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Yas Marina Circuit
As daylight fades and the floodlights take over, Yas Marina Circuit provides one of Formula 1®’s most recognisable settings. With its marina backdrop, distinctive architecture and passionate fans, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix combines world-class racing with a spectacular atmosphere. From the anticipation before lights out to the celebrations after the chequered flag, this is a race weekend made for memorable moments.
First held in 2009, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix introduced Formula 1®’s first twilight race, beginning in daylight and finishing under floodlights. Sebastian Vettel won the inaugural event before returning a year later to secure his first World Championship. Since then, Yas Marina has become synonymous with season-ending drama, providing the stage for championship triumphs, emotional farewells and unforgettable battles as drivers chase their final points of the year.
The 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix delivered another gripping championship showdown. Max Verstappen claimed victory ahead of Oscar Piastri, but Lando Norris secured his first Drivers’ World Championship by finishing third, ending the season just two points clear of Verstappen. After Piastri passed him on the opening lap, Norris faced pressure from Charles Leclerc and a tense encounter with Yuki Tsunoda as he worked through traffic. He held his nerve to claim the podium finish he needed, turning the evening into a career-defining celebration.
For 2027, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix promises another spectacular occasion at Yas Marina Circuit. Its long straights and demanding corners will test the drivers, while the transition from sunset to floodlit racing creates a striking backdrop. With every overtake, pit stop and final-lap push, fans can look forward to the speed, tension and celebration that make Abu Dhabi such a special part of Formula 1®.
